Weekend in New York
A few short months ago, we decided to pursue something that has always been a part of our dreams -- a life well-traveled. This pursuit was something we each wanted even before becoming a family. Having both majored in Intercultural Studies and one of us being an international living abroad (we’ll let you guess which one of us that is), we solidified early on in our relationship that being globally connected was of high value to us. We both wanted to see and be engaged in the world.
Like many young folks out there, we have found ourselves in our 9 to 5 jobs, anxiously counting our vacation days and trying to fool ourselves into thinking that one trip each year would satisfy the itch. We’ve found that many of our friend’s and peer’s lives look wildly different. This may be due to age, circumstances, decisions, or a whole array of other factors. There’s beauty in that. There’s beauty in the difference, but the most important aspect of that is to prioritize your values wherever you’re at.
For us, we’ve completely entered into a new season. In order to chase those dreams, it resulted in one of us giving up a full-time income, jumping off of the normal career path, and then having multiple conversations with those that think we’re crazy for being so nontraditional. We hope that as we share more of our lifestyle of travel, you’re inspired to make sacrifices in your current season to pursue what you really want. It doesn’t happen in a day (at least it didn’t for us) and it looks different for everyone. We simply hope that we’re just one more voice pushing you towards your dreams.
Until Next Time!
